Ivana Machackova is a sculptor living in Gothenburg, Sweden. She has been fascinated by classical masterpieces of art since early childhood. She grew up in Prague and in Rome, in cultural environments, which influenced her perception of beauty and artistic values. As a child she believed that the marble statues in Rome had souls and she used to talk to them on her daily walks.
Ivana has great experience with materials such as as bronze, glass, concrete, wood and plastic. The essence of Ivana´s art work is a constant experimentation which pushes her forward, be it the choice of new materials, new techniques or new goals. Stone is the material she likes most.
Currently Ivana is specializing in large scale stone sculptures and monuments placed in public places. With 20-years experience of stone she possesses a special expertise resulting in unique works. Her sculptures have won a number of prizes and she has also been representing Sweden when participating in art events and art competitions abroad. She is a certified art consultant for vitalising public environments and works periodically also as exhibition curator.
Ivana is commissioned by city boards, construction companies, hotels, private collectors and others to give ideas, create art and to form places. Often she works in teams with architects in designing the environment where the artwork will be placed. Her artworks can be seen in cities, quay walks, parks, residential areas, in private collections, in city halls, schools and in many other places where people walk and stay. „I wish to contribute to the creation of beautiful environments which can add value to peoples everyday life, making our world a more beautiful and pleasant place.”
